Install Oracle Solaris 10 inside VMware® Workstation 8.0.1.

First Download Solaris 10 x86 image (.iso) file(eg:sol-10-u10-ga2-x86-dvd.iso) from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/solaris10/downloads/index.html  Oracle Solaris official website.

Preparing your virtual machine hardware

Use typical settings 

Select your image .iso location  

Insert any name for your virtual machine

Use 16Gb or higher disk size

Use Minimum 1024 MB of physical RAM

I recommend 2GB RAM

Installing the Sun Solaris 10 operating system

While performing a typical installation of Solaris 10 Update 10 on VMware on some versions of ESX, the installation might fail with a kernel panic and display an error message similar to the following:

panic[cpu0]/thread=fffffffffbc28340 ..

This is because the default memory size of 1GB for a Solaris 10 virtual machine is less than the required memory size for a Solaris 10 Update 10 virtual machine.

Solution:

Work around the issue by changing the virtual machine's memory size to 1.5GB/2GB or higher.

Select option one

Select your keyboard layout

Select your language 

If you are hoping to use DHCP service on your default network interface select yes.

Set Host name for network interface

Set IP address for network interface (e1000g0)

After installing process if we want to change its possible to change interface IP.

Insert netmask for your subnet

You can place it enable or disable ipv6 for network interface

Use  *detect one: only if the system is on a subnet that has a router that advertises itself.

After all installation you can also add routes 

Select time ZONE

Set system date and time

Set your root password(its asking when you'll log in)

If you want you can change file system sizes as your preference
